Join Dr. Lundwall on this exciting tour through the Yucatan. We will visit Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Ek Balam, Xkichmook, Labna, and more. We will see the equinox shadow at the Temple of Kukulkan, and journey through the jungles of the ancient Maya.
Dr. Lundwall will also visit and photograph the ancient site of Cahokia, one of the great archeological sites in North America. The site shows astronomical alignments and advanced city planning.
Join Dr. Lundwall for a local tour of the petroglyphs and museum of Fremont Indian State Park. We will watch the solstice sun line transect a couple petroglyph panels and explore the lifeways of the ancient Fremont.
Dr. Lundwall will be presenting at this year’s Sunstone Symposium. He will discuss the epistemological differences between oral and literate religious cultures as seen through head-taking in the Book of Mormon versus sacrificial rituals of ancient Mesoamerica.
